NEW HAVEN, Conn. (October 5, 2026) – A game-winning touchdown throw on the final, multiple interception performances and other individual highlights shined bright this past weekend and were reflective in the weekly awards handed out on Monday by the Collegiate Sprint Football League (CSFL) for Week #3 of the 2026 campaign.

Cornell, Mansfield, Navy and St. Thomas Aquinas each were represented with a weekly honoree, as the league inches near the midway point of the current season.

OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK (Jake Kear, St. Thomas Aquinas)
Kear passed for 163 yards and three touchdowns, but it was his final scoring toss that was the highlight of the weekend across the league. He chucked a 41-yard scoring toss on the final play of the game to lift STAC to a thrilling, come-from-behind, 27-24, win over Molloy on Friday night.

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK (Matt Machmer, Mansfield)
Machmer intercepted a pair of Caldwell passes, and logged six tackles, to help spearhead Mansfield’s strong defensive performance in a 41-20 win over Caldwell.

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK (Jason Milo, Cornell)
Milo recorded eight tackles, including one for loss, but came up even bigger as the linebacker intercepted a pair of passes in Cornell’s victory over D’Youville. His second interception helped set up Cornell’s eventual game-winning scoring drive.

SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK (Jon Malatesta, Navy)
Malatesta returned kicks for the Midshipmen in their 41-14 road win over Chestnut Hill on Saturday, and got in the act offensively by catching three passes, including two for TDs.

Berry completed 10-of-14 passes for 168 yards and two TDs in Cornell’s win over D’Youville. His longest scoring strike came on a 77-yard TD toss to Miles Mariani.
