2026 CSFL Week #1 Honorees

NEW HAVEN, Conn. (September 21, 2026) – The opening week of the 2026 Collegiate Sprint Football League (CSFL) season saw several impressive individual performances, as on Monday the league recorded five individuals for four awards, including a pair of outstanding special teams performances. Five separate schools were recognized with the weekly awards, and seven overall were referenced as the league honor roll highlighted additional outstanding performances.

OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK (Joseph Frye, Mansfield)
Joseph Frye had an outstanding season debut as Mansfield’s signal caller in a win over Cornell. He completed 8-of-13 passes for 196 yards and three touchdowns, while also rushing for 157 yards and a pair of scores on the ground.

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK (Caleb McGarity, Army West Point)
Caleb McGarity was all over the field on the defensive side for Army West Point in it season-opening victory at home against Caldwell. He recorded six tackles, including one for loss (-4 yards), to help Army limit Caldwell to minus-3 yards rushing. Even more impressive, he broke up five passes.

SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK (Obed Irelus, Chestnut Hill)
Obed Irelus helped Chestnut Hill play the field position game in the Griffins’ close 17-7 win over Molloy on Friday. He averaged 51.3 yards per punt, including a long of 67 yards, while also having two downed inside the 20-yard line.

SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK (Benjamin Roerden, Cornell)
Benjamin Roerden blocked a pair of kicks in Cornell’s season opener against Mansfield. Defensively, he also logged 11 tackles.

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK (Andrew Daley, Navy)
Andrew Daley had a terrific collegiate debut in Navy’s win over Penn on Friday, as he caught three passes for 89 yards and a touchdown. His TD grab was a 63-yard connection from quarterback Luke O’Connell. He also returned kickoffs, punts and recorded a special teams tackle.

HONOR ROLL
Ayden Das (Molloy) – Made 12 tackles, including eight solo, in Molloy’s season opener against Chestnut Hill.

Hunter Gennicks (Navy) – Rushed for 97 yards and a touchdown in the win over Penn.

JP Ross (Army West Point) – Rushed for 133 yards and three TDs in the win over Caldwell.

Xavier Limehouse (Chestnut Hill) – Rushed for 126 yards and two TDs in the win over Molloy.

Riley Stidham (Chestnut Hill) – Logged seven tackles, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery in the win against Molloy.

Josh Smith (Caldwell) – Made six grabs for 150 yards and a 43-yard TD against Army West Point.

Drake Murrell (Navy) – Logged five tackles and three for loss in the victory over Penn.
