2023 CSFL All-Conference & Major Awards

NEW HAVEN, Conn. (December 5, 2023) – Brandon Atwood (Navy)
and Luke Gigliotti (Army West Point) on Tuesday were named the 2023 Collegiate
Sprint Football League (CSFL) Offensive and Defensive Players of the Year, respectively, as announced by Commissioner Dan Mara. Atwood (QB) and
Gigliotti (LB) also earned spots on the All-CSFL First Team as the nominating
and voting for the 2023 awards was conducted by the league’s eight head coaches.
Joining Atwood and Gigliotti as 2023 major award winners
included Army West Point’s Maurice Bellan as CSFL Rookie of the Year and Penn’s
Adrian Montemayor winning the CSFL Special Teams Player of the Year Award for
the second year in a row.
Atwood was brilliant in guiding Navy’s offensive attack this
season as the Midshipmen went 8-0 and won their third-consecutive CSFL
Championship in mid-November. He completed 64 percent of his passes for 1,187
yards and 16 touchdowns, while also rushing for 466 yards and four scores. He
averaged 5.8 yards per carry in 2023.
Gigliotti registered 40 total tackles in 2023, including
four tackles for loss and one sack. He anchored a defensive unit that was one
of the best in the CSFL and led the league in several categories including
first in fewest points allowed per game (7.3).
Bellan was an important part of Army’s passing game. He
caught 23 passes for 241 yards and one score. Bellan was named All-CSFL First
Team at wideout.
Montemayor did it all for Penn as the Quakers’ kicker and
punter this season. He was a perfect 9-for-9 in extra-point attempts and did
make one field goal on the year. He led the CSFL in punting at 32.2 yards per
boot and had eight kicks downed inside the 20. He was also named to the
All-CACC First Team at both positions.
