2019 Week 4 Review

The fourth week of the 2019 CSFL season saw Navy remain unbeaten at 4-0 overall and 2-0 in divisional play, Mansfield improve to 3-1 for its best start ever, Penn pick up a tight win over crosstown rival Chestnut Hill, Army cruise to a win and St. Thomas Aquinas earn its first win of the season.
PLAYERS OF THE WEEK
Offensive Player of the Week: Laquan McKever, RB, Penn (Linden, N.J.)
McKever averaged 9.5 yards per carry and racked up 238 rushing yards and two touchdowns on 25 carries to lead Penn to a 42-32 win over Chestnut Hill. He also caught a 21-yard pass to finish with 259 total yards of offense.
Defensive Player of the Week: Matt Roberts, LB, Mansfield (Horseheads, N.Y.)
Roberts totaled a game-high 10 tackles, all solo efforts, in Mansfield 42-18 win over Alderson Broaddus. The freshman also had one tackle for loss and an interception, which he returned 42 yards.
Special Teams Player of the Week: Seppi Ortman, PK, Army West Point (Lafayette, Calif.)
Ortman scored 10 points for Army last week in a 58-7 win over Post. He connected on all seven of his PAT kicks and booted a 32-yard field goal to lead all kickers in scoring in week four.

WEEK 4 RESULTS
Chestnut Hill (32) at Penn (42)
Penn scored 22 points in the second quarter and added 14 points in the fourth quarter to come away with a 42-32 win over crosstown rival Chestnut Hill at Franklin Field.
The game featured more than 800 yards of total offense with Penn posting 447 yards and Chestnut Hill putting up 396 yards. The Quakers threw for 117 yards and rushed for 330 yards, while the Griffins ran for 60 yards and threw for 336 yards as the two offense found success in different areas.
Penn got four total touchdowns from Eddie Jenkins, who ran for 85 yards and two touchdowns and threw for 117 yards with two touchdowns and one interception. Laquan McKever rushed for 238 yards and two scores and added one 21-yard catch to lead the offense. Brendan McCaffrey caught seven passes for 47 yards and two touchdowns.
Chestnut Hill got 336 passing yards and five touchdowns from Michael Marino, who was intercepted twice. Akeem Browne caught eight passes for 104 yards and two scores, Domoree Hill caught five passes for 93 yards and one score and James Naylor Jr. caught four passes for 65 yards and two scores. Colby Goldsmith added six catches for 60 yards.
Penn will return to action in two weeks with a trip to Navy Oct. 18 at 7 p.m. Chestnut Hill will return to action Oct. 18 with a 6 p.m. kickoff at Alderson Broaddus.

Alderson Broaddus (18) at Mansfield (42)
Mansfield scored 22 unanswered points to close the game and pull away for a 42-18 win over Alderson Broaddus last week to improve to 3-1, its best start in its CSFL history.
The Mounties put up 311 yards of total offense with 117 passing and 194 rushing, while holding the Battlers to 108 total yards with 65 rushing and 43 passing.
David Butler rushed for more than 100 yards for the third week in a row, finishing with 105 yards and two touchdowns to go along with one 13-yard receiving TD to lead the offense for Mansfield. Koby Peacock and Dylan Kmitch each threw for one touchdown. John Rogers caught six passes for 73 yards and rushed for one TD. Matt Roberts recorded 10 solo tackles and one interception to lead the defense.
Alderson Broaddus got 54 rushing yards and one touchdown from Max Crist. Joshua Derocher threw for 51 yards and one score, which went to Teddy Tyler from 22 yards out. Sam Soloman paced the defense with six solo tackles, two tackles for loss, one sack, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery. Hosea Addison returned an interception 32 yards for a touchdown.
Mansfield will travel to Cornell Oct. 18 for a 7 p.m. kickoff and Alderson Broaddus will host Chestnut Hill Oct. 18 at 6 p.m.

Cornell (19) at St. Thomas Aquinas (39)
St. Thomas Aquinas jumped out to a 21-0 lead and cruised to its first win of the season with a 39-19 victory over Cornell.
The Spartans put up 382 yards of offense with 251 passing yards and 131 rushing yards. The Big Red went for 216 total yards with 154 on the ground and 62 through the air.
Kiel McKenzie threw for 251 yards with three touchdowns and one interception to pace the St. Thomas Aquinas offense. Coleby Cherrington rushed for 61 yards, Korrelle Brown rushed for 57 yards and Isiah Davis rushed for 39 yards and one touchdown. Jimmy English caught seven passes for 75 yards and one score and Ernest Stallworth caught four passes for 83 yards and two TDs. The STAC defense came up with five interceptions, including a 10-yard pick six by Malyk Michel.
Cornell was paced by J.R. Quinones, who rushed for 92 yards and one touchdown. Connor Phelps added 52 rushing yards and Harrison Nicholas threw for 62 yards and one touchdown, a 52-yard strike to Luke Verzella. Collin Stockton recorded nine total tackles and Matthew Luebke had three tackles for loss.
St. Thomas Aquinas will travel to Post Oct. 19 for a noon kickoff and Cornell will host Mansfield Oct. 18 for a 7 p.m. kickoff.

Navy (23) at Caldwell (10)
Navy scored 13 points 20 seconds apart in the fourth quarter to break a 10-10 tie and come away with a 23-10 victory on the road at Caldwell, improving the Midshipmen to 4-0 overall and 2-0 in divisional games.
Caldwell scored with a four-yard run from Armani Bermudez with 11:02 to play to tie the game at 10-10. Navy answered with a six-yard TD run from Terry Totta with 7:54 to play to take a 16-10 lead and then tacked on an eight yard run from Caleb Champion just 20 seconds later after an interception by Grant Hooper to account for the final points.
Navy gained 253 total yards with 165 coming on the ground. Caldwell put up 208 total yards with 167 on the ground.
Champion finished with 95 rushing yards and one score, while Totta added 36 yards and one score. Jake Foss threw for 67 yards and one touchdown, which went to Walt Fagan. David Postma recorded eight tackles to lead the Navy defense, which also got six tackles, one sack and a forced fumble from Ed Shead.
Caldwell was led by Bermudez with 80 rushing yards and one touchdown. The Cougars also got a 24-yard field goal from Christian Cornelius. Royce Francisco led the defense with 12 total tackles, while Randy Antenor added nine tackles, 3.0 tackles for loss, one sack and one fumble recovery.
Navy will host Penn Oct. 18 at 7 p.m. and Caldwell will travel to Army West Point Oct. 19 at 1 p.m.

Post (7) at Army West Point (58)
Army jumped out to a 42-0 lead and rolled to a 58-7 win over Post. The Black Knights put up 305 total yards of offense with 169 passing and 136 rushing, while holding Penn to 58 total yards on 54 passing yards and just four rushing yards.
Ryan Sullivan threw for 114 yards and one touchdown and rushed for 23 yards and one score to lead the offense. Ben West, Matthew Sauter, Kameron Miller and Jack Felgar all rushed for one touchdown and Kraig Jamilton and Sauter each caught one TD pass. Caleb Doyle recorded 12 total tackles and two tackles for loss and Tate Blessinger returned an interception 40 yards for a touchdown.
Nick D’Elia threw for 54 yards and one touchdown to lead Post. That TD toss went to Jake Butler, who finished with 33 receiving yards. Naijuan Kennedy rushed for 34 yards. Hansley Dalembe led the Post defense with nine total tackles and 2.5 tackles for loss.
Army will host Caldwell Oct. 19 at 1 p.m. and Post will host St. Thomas Aquinas Oct. 19 at noon.
