2018 Postseason Honors

Army West Point quarterback Keegan West was named the 2018 CSFL Player of the Year, taking home the Kay Trophy as the league’s top performer after leading the No. 1 offense in the CSFL in 2018. Mansfield defensive back Brandon Allen was named the Newcomer of the Year.
In addition to the two major award winners for for the 2018 season, the complete list of All-CSFL honorees was announced Tuesday. The All-CSFL team is selected by the head coaches in the league and is split into first team, second team and honorable mention recognitions.
The coaches in the league selected West as this year’s top player after he averaged 275.1 passing yards per game. The senior signal caller from Army completed 61 percent of his passes for a league-high 1,926 yards with 21 touchdowns and just three interceptions. He also rushed for two touchdowns to account for 23 total scores this season. West led any Army offensive unit that ranked first in the CSFL in scoring (38.4 points per game), total offense (402.4 yards per game) and passing offense (305.0 yards per game).
Allen was chosen as the top rookie in the league and was selected to second team All-CSFL honors as a defensive back. The freshman was twice named the CSFL Defensive Player of the Week during the year and finished the year ranked second in the CSFL with four interceptions, one of which he returned for a touchdown. Allen recorded 25 total tackles, one fumble recovery that he returned 94 yards and broke up five additional passes on top of his four interceptions.
All nine teams that completed a full season in the CSFL are represented on the All-CSFL squad. 2018 champion Navy tops the league with 15 total honorees, including seven first team selections, while runner-up Army West Point has 14 selections. Cornell and Penn each have 12 honorees, followed by Chestnut Hill and Mansfield with 11 each, St. Thomas Aquinas with eight, Post with six and Caldwell with five for a total of 94 honorees.
The 2018 CSFL season saw South Division champion Navy come away with the overall crown after defeating North Division champion Army West Point by a 24-10 score in the second annual CSFL title game, which was played Nov. 10 at St. Thomas Aquinas. The two fierce rivals split a pair of games this season after Army West Point was victorious by a 17-14 margin on the road at Navy back on Sept. 21.
Navy finished the year with a 7-1 overall record and a 4-0 mark in the South Division. Chestnut Hill placed second in the South with a 4-3 overall record and a 3-1 divisional mark. Penn followed at 3-3 overall and 2-2 in divisional games and Mansfield was fourth in the South with a 1-3 divisional record, but set a single-season record for wins with a 4-3 overall mark. Caldwell finished winless in fifth place in the South.
Army won the North Division with a 3-0 record and finished up 6-1 overall. Cornell was second in the North with a 4-2 overall record and a 2-1 mark in divisional play. St. Thomas Aquinas wrapped up its inaugural season with a 2-4 overall record and a 1-2 mark in divisional play and Post finished the year with a 1-6 overall record in fourth place in the North Division.
The 2019 CSFL season will see the departure of Franklin Pierce from the league as the Ravens have transitioned to NCAA Division II football, but the league will once again expand to 10 teams with the addition of Alderson Broaddus University.
